7/8th: Read "afterward" essay at the end of Huck Finn and come up with one new idea that that essay teaches you. Be prepared to share this with the class.

9/10th: Read actively "The Miller's Prologue and Tale" pages 89-91.

Homework due Wednesday

7/8th: REad pages 250-269 (it does NOT need to be actively; however, if you come across information that will help you in arguing your essay thesis, be sure to mark it to save you time later).

9/10th: Please read pages 37-56 in "The Knight's Tale" actively. Note, in particular, the uses of Fortune or Fate in this text. Try and find when luck/fate brings GOOD and when it brings BAD to characters. We will talk about these elements on Wednesday, and I will check your text that you have made an effort to mark these moments.

7/8th: Please read actively chapter 36- and for those of you who were absent today, be sure to catch up in your reading if you are feeling better before Monday. Also, please review the topic questions for your upcoming Huck Finn essay and CHOOSE ONE QUESTION TO WRITE A ONE to TWO sentence response for. You will be asked to turn in your answer to the question on Monday, so be sure to have your answer written down.

9/10th: _Beowulf_ final essay due (with drafts and wcp attached).

Homework Due Monday

7/8th: 1) ROOT FOR THE ROCKIES! 2) Revise your Huck Finn Paragraph (TYped) and bring it in Monday with your old draft attached for a grade. 3) Write one orriginal poem-- minimum of 12 lines, typed and printed out before class. You will earn extra credit if you aim to write a sonnet!

9/10th: Write the first three paragraphs of your draft and print them out to bring into class for a workshopping period. Also, remember to bring both texts (Chaucer and Beowulf) to class.
