homework due Friday

7/8th: 1) Comma "A" rule quiz (review your comma packets!) and 2) find and label ten literary devices that are present in the poem, "Romeo and Juliet." YOu do NOT need to explain them. We'll do that togther in class and see what we can come up with. Just find them. :-)

9/10th: Please read and analyze the poem, "ROmeo and Juliet." YOu must determine a thesis and identify ten literary terms that support your claim as to what this poem means. Be prepared to defend your thesis in an organized essay/paragraph.

homework due Wednesday

7/8th: Please revisit the poem which you worked in pairs to analyze on Friday, "Fearless," from your poetry songs packet. Then, in an organized paragraph, please construct and defend with evidence a topic sentence which clearly states what the main message or theme of this poem is. In your pargarph, you should use a minimum of three literary devices and quotations as evidence (you should already have these marked out on paper from your teamwork on Friday). Be sure to introduce each quotation by explaining what type of literary device it is, and explain how it proves your thesis after you give the quotation. Don't forget to double-space and include the proper heading. *do not spend longer than 40 minutes on this activity.

9/10th: Complete the grammar packet (all pages) if you can do so in 40 minutes, which I anticipate you should be just fine. Please see me BEFORE class if you don't have time to finish the packet for homework.

Homework due Friday

7/8th: Both sides of the poetry sheet need to be completed. I realize that some of the poetry definitions are not as easily straightforward as they should be, although I realized this after class of course. Therefore, please don't hesitate to look for more simplistic definitions on line, or email me, or come by class and ask me).

9/10th: 1) Please remember that your EXAM ESSAY REVISIONS are due NEXT Friday, Jan. 15th, typed, with the orriginal attached. I have met with several of those of you who wanted to meet with me-- if you would still like to meet with me and discuss these essays, please do so sometime in the next week. 2) The poetry work sheet (both sides) are due this Friday.
