Homework due Monday

7/8th: Please address commas in your first two paragraphs of your essay drafts: 1) make sure that no more than one sentence in a row lacks any commas and 2) LABEL all A, B and C commas that you use. ALSO-- please complete the grammar worksheet on A,B and C.

9/10th: Please complete main body paragrpahs two and three for Monday. Be sure to make corrections on your first two paragraphs as well.

Homework Due Wednesday

7/8 AND 9/10th: Please write AND TYPE your introductory and first main body paragraphs for your poetry essay. Please pay particular attention to developing your readers' interest in your intro paragraph. Consider: what is interesting about the subject on which you are about to write? The poet? The poem? Are there historical issues or political or personal issues at stake here? Also, for your first main body paragraph, 7/8th graders: 3 peices of evidence per paragraph. 9/10th: four. REMEMBER TO TYPE AND PRINT BEFORE CLASS, in formal format, please.

1) Make SURE you have your song lyrics with you to analyze
2) Comma "B" and "A" quiz (review the difficult clue words to remember)
3) Write one, ten-lined poem and include at least one example of the following literary terms chosen by your fellow students: (End Rhyme, Enjambment, juxtapostition, iambic pentamert, alliteration, internal rhyme, assonance and metatextual reference)


9/10th:

1) Make SURE you have your song lyrics with you to analyze

Homework Due Monday

7/8th:

1) Print out your FINAL song lyrics (if you have not been pre-approved) and be sure that your poetry selection has PLENTY of literary elements, so that you don't struggle to analyze this for your Poetry Essay.

2) Finish the "B" comma worksheet (sentences 12-17) by placing the commas in the correct space.

3) ACTIVELY CLOSE READ (mark literary terms) in Shakespeare's poem, "Shall I compare thee to a Summer's Day?"

9/10th:

1) Print out your FINAL song lyrics (if you have not been pre-approved) and be sure that your poetry selection has PLENTY of literary elements, so that you don't struggle to analyze this for your Poetry Essay.

2) Write 10 sentences that have TWO B commas.

3) ACTIVELY CLOSE READ (mark ALL literary terms) Anne Bradstreet's poem, "To my Dear and Loving Husband."
